The A120 has reopened at Marks Tey after an accident between a lorry and a car.

It happened on the road between Ashbury Drive and Godmans Lane at around 9am.

The road was closed westbound at the junction with the A12 and eastbound at Godmans Lane.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We're currently at the scene of a collision in Coggeshall Road, Marks Tey. We were called at 9.09am.

"Two ambulances and an ambulance officer are currently at the scene."

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision on the A120 near Marks Tey at 9.05am on Tuesday, December 18 involving a lorry and a van.

"The driver of the van has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"If you have any information about the incident please call us on 101 quoting incident 265 of December 18."

A diversion was place to allow drivers to avoid the area.

Westbound traffic is being diverted off the A120 at Marks Tey, via the A12 southbound to J19 (Boreham), the A130 through Chelmsford and Little Waltham, then the A131 to rejoin the A120.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted off the A120 at Galleys roundabout, via the A131 through Great Notley and Great Leighs, to the A130, then the A130 through little Waltham and Chelmsford, to the A12 J19 (Boreham). From here, take the A12 northbound towards Colchester and rejoin the A120 at Marks Tey.

There has also been a spillage on the carriageway.
