A learner driver who hit a stationary car while driving unsupervised has been banned from the roads for six months.
Chloe Penn-Bowen, 18, of St Leonards Close, Colchester, was driving in High Street, Colchester, when she hit the back of the stopped vehicle on June 12.
She was subsequently charged with driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance of a licence.
The case was proved in Penn-Bowen’s absence on August 19 and she was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on December 12.
For driving without due care and attention she was banned from driving for six months, fined £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £90.
She was handed no separate penalties for the other two offences.
