THERE is just a day left to vote for Southend's best Christmas window in a popular festive business competition.

The scheme is designed to encourage businesses to enter the festive spirit, brighten up the town and decorate their premises with as many Christmas decorations as they like, before posting a photo on social media.

The public can then cast a vote by liking their favourite photo on Facebook.

The winning business will receive a promotional video worth £500 made by Southend-based Blatella Films.

The competition closes tomorrow.

The winner and two runners up will be awarded a certificate from Southend mayor Derek Jarvis on Friday.

So far, 38 businesses have entered the competition.

James Courtenay, Southend Council's cabinet member for growth, said: “We want to celebrate those businesses that go the extra mile to bring the festive spirit to the town and season’s greetings to residents and visitors to the town.

“There has always been a lot of thought and effort gone into the entries and this year will be no different I’m sure. I’m pleased there are already 38 businesses, but let’s see if we can encourage a few last minute entries and really make this competition one to be part of. And to residents and visitors, please take part and head to our Biz-on-Sea Network Facebook page to cast your vote.”

Businesses can take part by posting a picture on social media mentioning @BusinessOnSea using #BestFestiveBiz18, or emailing them to economicd@southend.gov.uk.
