A INQUEST has opened into the death of a man from Colchester.

Craig Findlay, 39, died on Ponfield Road in the town on September 7.

Mr Findlay was homeless, but had been staying at an address in the road at the time of his death.

The inquest opened at Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford on Thursday.

Coroner's officer Jonathan Hall told the court: "Craig Findlay was found unresponsive at a property in Ponfield Road. He was sadly confirmed dead at the scene and police ruled there were no suspicious circumstances.

"A post mortem examination was carried out which found a provisional cause of death of pneumonia and multiple drugs toxicity."

Coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray adjourned the inquest until January 7.
