Pop music icon Craig David is set to bring his greatest hits to Colchester’s Castle Park in time for summer.

He’ll be joined on stage by a full live band for his only Essex concert in 2019 on June 2 next year.

International DJ Sigala and chart-topping singer songwriter Becky Hill also join the bill for what will be one of the biggest concerts Castle Park has ever hosted.

The Seven Days singer said: “I’m really looking forward to bringing my show and band to Colchester in the summer.

“It’s going to be a blast; I’ve no doubt my fans will join me in making this a big night.”

The singer, songwriter and rapper shot to fame in the early noughties with his debut album Born to Do It, featuring smash hits Fill Me In, Seven Days and Walking Away.

The album has gone on to sell more than 8 million copies, earning multi-platinum status in more than 20 countries.

His involvement with the UK garage scene during the late 90s is also legendary and his collaboration with Artful Dodger, Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta), remains one of the most iconic songs in the genre.

Since the release of his sixth album in 2016, Following My Intuition, Craig has enjoyed a resurgence with new and old fans.

The album reached number one in the charts, whilst this year’s follow up, The Time Is Now, reached number two.

Across his 18-year career he had had dozens of Brit and Grammy award nominations and is a multiple Ivor Novello winner.

DJ Sigala has enjoyed six singles in top 10 chart, and Becky Hill is best known for tracks such as False Alarm and number one smash Gecko (Overdrive).

Completing the bill is up and comer Nathan Dawe, who is expected to be a breakout star of 2019.

Craig David added: “I’m a huge fan of Sigala who will be spinning some serious tracks, and Becky Hill has the most incredible voice and amazing hits, so I’m looking forward to having them both as my very special guests.

“DJ and producer Nathan Dawe is on the up – and I am happy to invite him to open.

“We know the fans in Essex like to party so bring it on; cannot wait to see you all.”

Nick Barlow, councillor responsible for commercial services, said he was delighted to have such big artists performing in the town.

He added: "This really demonstrates the continued variety and quality of acts that are choosing to put our town on their tour schedule, following the extremely successful concerts in the park this summer.”
