A person has died after being hit by a train near Hythe Station in Colchester.
British Transport Police officers were called to the scene at around 9.30am this morning after receiving reports from the public a person had been struck by a train.
A spokesman said: “Paramedics and colleagues from Essex Police also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead the scene.
“The incident has been declared non suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Rail replacement buses were called in to take customers between Colchester and Clacton.
Disruption on the trains continued until around 12noon.
A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "Trains on the route between Colchester and Clacton were disrupted throughout the morning after a person was hit by a train shortly before 9.30am.
"We'd like to apologise to any passengers delayed as a result of this incident and remind them they can claim for delay repay compensation for any delays over 30 minutes."
The East Street level crossing remains closed, which is having knock on affects to traffic across Colchester.
