A LIFEBOAT crew paid their respects at sea on Remembrance Sunday.
Harwich RNLI marked Remembrance Day service out at sea with a short service which included wreath laying.
After the service, the volunteers and family members joined the Remembrance parade to St Nicholas’ Church in Harwich.
A Harwich RNLI spokesman said: “Harwich RNLI paid their respects on Remembrance Sunday.
“As a busy lifeboat station, moments of silence and calm, and times for reflection are rare, but Remembrance is an important time for everyone.”
In recent years, Harwich RNLI has held a Remembrance service at sea on November 11.
The lifeboat crew has also joined local Remembrance Day services ashore.
He said: “This year, with Remembrance Sunday also being the November 11, Harwich RNLI’s volunteers went to sea during the morning for a short Remembrance service, including a wreath laying.”
The wreaths were placed into the sea to remember those who served in the First World War.
He added: “In the afternoon, the volunteers and family members joined the Remembrance parade to St Nicholas Church.
“A quiet time as a team initially, with the afloat service lead by Harwich RNLI’s Chaplain, Rev Sam Winney, and later, a privilege to join the wider community to pause, fall silent, and pay our respects.”
