ALTHOUGH most commuters probably feel they already see enough of the inside of a train carriage, Greater Anglia is hoping they can entice them back for more.

And there is the promise of a free gift to lure them in.

Greater Anglia’s Virtual Reality roadshows are starting up again, and will roll into Colchester on Friday, December 14, from 3pm to 7pm.

At the event, there will be 200 Google cardboard headsets available free of charge to members of the public.

Those attending will also be give the chance to look around all three types of new trains, which are set to be rolled out by the middle of next year.

The virtual headset journey begins at a railway station, where a Stadler bi-mode, Stadler intercity and Bombardier electric train are all parked.

Commuters can then walk all the way through each train, view the new passenger information screens and even visit the cafe bar.

Ian McConnell, Greater Angia’s franchising and programmes director, said he hoped travellers will be impressed by what they see.

He said: “Our new trains are really going to transform train travel in East Anglia.

“The state-of-the-art features will ensure customers can travel in comfort.

“Please come along to one of the stations and have a look at what’s coming from next year.”
