A town centre car park will close overnight for resurfacing works on a nearby road.

Colchester Council's Britannia Car Park, in Britannia Way, will shut on four nights next week to allow Essex Highways to resurface parts of Queen Street.

The car park will remain open between the hours of 7am and 8pm, but shut outside these hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Visitors and workers are being advised to park in the nearby Priory Street or Vineyard Street car parks overnight if necessary.

Mike Lilley, councillor responsible for planning, public safety and licensing, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this closure, but Essex Highways need to complete these works to nearby Queen Street.

"Many of our great value town centre car parks offer overnight parking, so I'm sure that residents and visitors will find a car park to suit their needs.”
