Poppies lit up Colchester Castle as an act of remembrance from dusk until 9pm tonight.
The display featured more than 1,200 names of the fallen from Colchester.
The area in front of the Castle remained open for the public to view the poignant projection.
The projection, designed and created by arts group Buffalo Tank, will be repeated on Saturday and Sunday evening as part of Colchetster Council's Armistice centenary events.
