A GRATEFUL pensioner has had his faith in humanity restored after kindly neighbours volunteered to repair his much-needed sign.
Brian Melville, 79, needs to keep his driveway clear as he makes regular hospital visits, but a sign he uses to deter people from parking outside became damaged.
He said: "I don't have the strength to do it, so someone approached my wife outside and asked 'would you object if my husband replaced the sign?'
"I am in and out of hospital with emphysema, so it is important to keep the driveway clear. "They renewed my faith in human nature, it was a selfless thing to do and I want to thank them."
The pair, who left their names as Janine and Luke, repaired the sign four days after Mr Melville spotted the damage.
The pensioner, who has lived in Swallowdale, Great Clacton, for around five years, hopes the kind-hearted neighbours will receive the message.
"I couldn't sort it out myself and we couldn't believe how nice a gesture it was," he added.
