1. Halloween Havoc, WrestleForce. Witham Public Hall

Superstars of the wrestling world will return to the ring later for an afternoon of hard-hitting action. WrestleForce will head to Witham Public Hall for some high-flying entertainment the whole family can enjoy. And this time there will be a seriously spooky twist. That’s because this event will be a Halloween special so those brave enough to go along can expect to see plenty of monsters from places unknown. This epic extravaganza of entertainment, dubbed Halloween Havoc, will take place at the public hall on Sunday, October 28. The performance will get under way at the public hall from 4pm, with doors opening at 3.30pm. Tickets are available from Witham Town Hall and will cost £35 for a family ticket, £12 for an adult ticket and £10 for a child’s ticket. 2. Halloween fun at Braintree Museum

Youngsters are being invited to go along and help Braintree Museum mark its 25th birthday with some fun half-term events. A mixture of birthday celebrations and spooky Halloween games will take place at the museum throughout this month. Spooktacular decorations will be the order of the day on Thursday, October 25, from 10.30am until noon. Meanwhile Toddler Time takes place from 10.30am on the same day. It will include Halloween stories and the chance to create a pet ghost or scary spider. Finally, ghoulish games will be held on Friday, October 25. 3. Halloween party. The Vintage Rose, Maldon

The Vintage Rose in Quest Place, Maldon, will be hosting a Halloween party on Thursday. Two sessions will run, with the first from 3pm to 5pm for children aged up to seven and the second from 5.30pm to 7.30pm for children aged eight to 13. There will be games, crafts, face painting and a spooky Halloween tea box for each child. Fancy dress is optional and all children must be accompanied by an adult. 4. Please don't feed the Vampire. Maldon Library

Maldon Library, in White Horse Lane, will be hosting its Please don’t feed the vampire event on Friday from 10am to 11.30am. It will include a morning of crafts and a scary story. Fancy dress is welcomed.

5. Kids Creepy Crafts. Burnham Library

Burnham Library, in Station Road, will run a Kids Creepy Crafts event from 11am to 1pm on Friday.

6. Halloween at the Prom. Promenade Park, Maldon

Next Saturday Maldon Carnival will host Halloween at the Prom from 10am to 3pm. The event at Promenade Park will include a spooky puzzle to solve and a maze. On completion, youngsters will be awarded a treat bag. There is a fancy dress competition, photo booth and slime workshop. Tickets start at £2.75 and the slime workshop costs £1.50. 7. Witches Fun Day. Burnham Museum

Burnham Museum will also put on a children’s event on Saturday with its Witches Fun Day from 10.30am to 4pm. There will be a tombola, gift stall and refreshments along with a host of activities.

8. Pumpkin carving. Cherry Lane Garden Centre, Braintree

Halloween-loving youngsters are being invited to go along to a morning of ghoulish goings-on tomorrow. A pumpkin carving workshop will take place at Cherry Lane Garden Centre, just off the A120 near Braintree, from 10am tomorrow. The one-hour session will give children the chance to pick their pumpkins and carve them into designs such as ghosts, ghouls and ghastly grinning monsters. The workshop will be hosted by spookily-dressed garden centre staff and will also include some fiendishly fun games. There will be Halloween cookies, glasses of witches’ brew and goodie bags will be handed out. Prizes will be on offer for the best pumpkin design and best fancy dress costume. 9. Spooky Barn Dance. Bradwell Village Hall

A halloween barn dance is being held in Bradwell this weekend. The creepy event will feature music performed by the Jasper Ceildh Band and takes place at the village hall this Saturday. It gets under way at 7pm and tickets cost £5 on the door. Call 07977 562705 for more information.

10. Halloween-themed lobster dinner. Dirty Lobster, Maldon

A spooky themed diner will be floating on the river Blackwater this weekend. Pop-up restaurant Dirty Lobster will be putting on a Halloween-themed lobster supper club experience from Friday to Sunday. The horrifying Halloween event is set on board a sailing barge at Cooks Yard in The Hythe. Tickets cost £5 and this covers the costs of production and actors. Food and drink on the night will have to be purchased at an additional charge. Guests will be emailed with options of times to dine within three days of their order being placed. 11. Scaresville. Kentwell Hall, Long Melford

Halloween fans can step across the border into Suffolk to explore a haunted village as part of an immersive experience. Scaresville, based at Kentwell Hall, in Long Melford, is an hour of thrills, spills, scares and dares. Participants will traverse woods, buildings and parkland encountering scary surprises on the way. The experience changes each year to keep people guessing what is coming next. The event sees groups of eight to 12 people make their way around the haunted village, known as the ScareZone. Before taking part in the journey people can grab a bite to eat and enjoy themselves at the Unfairground with acrobats, wandering magicians and fire displays. There is also a fiveminute, Witchcraftthemed rapid escape room. People taking part are advised to wear clothes suitable for cold and wet weather and should wear wellies or boots. No umbrellas are allowed for safety reasons. Tickets must be prebooked and anyone wanting to take part will be given a timeslot. Prices start at £17.95 and go up to £31.95. Participants should arrive 15 minutes before their entry time band. No under 14s are allowed and anyone aged 14 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged over 21. 12. Horrothon. Quay Theatre, Sudbury

A nerve-jangling day of creepy cinema is coming for Halloween. The Quay Theatre in Sudbury is putting on its third all-day Horrorthon just in time for the spooky holiday. Audiences will be shown seven classic horror films back to back on the big screen, accompanied by classic horror trailers. Do you dare to watch them all? You can prove you are brave enough by sitting through the films while dressed in Halloween-themed costumes. The day kicks off at midday with 1976 film Carrie, based on a Stephen King novel about a troubled young girl who discovers she has telekinetic powers. At 1.45pm the theatre will show The Hills Have Eyes from 1977. The story focuses on a family who break down in an area inhabited by monstrous cannibals while on their way to California. Things ramp up a gear when Italian horror film Suspiria is shown, featuring witchcraft, grisly murders and nightmares. At 5.20pm the 1985 film Re-Animator, a darkly comic tale, will be shown. Later at 7.20pm Brood will be screened and at 9.10pm Hellraiser will be aired. Brood is the story of a recently separated single father trying to uncover an unconventional psychologist’s therapy techniques on his institutionalised wife. Hellraiser explores the evil which lurks beneath the floorboards of a dilapidated house – and that something wants human blood. The final horror film will be Phantasm which will start at 11pm. It follows a teenage boy, his brother and an ice cream man who discover a secret at their local mortuary. Tickets for this Saturday’s fright fest are £20.
