RETRO music lovers will feel the force when one of the country’s biggest R ‘n’ B groups comes to Clacton.

Multi-million selling soul band The Real Thing are giving their well-loved disco hits a new lease of life with an extensive tour.

Featuring the group’s two original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith, along with their five-piece band, the trio are set to deliver a funky show with a strong retro flavour with the band’s classic songs mixed with contemporary grooves.

Their number one singles from the 1970s include You to me are Everything, Can’t get by Without You and Feel the Force.

During the 80s they were all remixed and became huge hits again.

For their tour they will also be covering Ain’t no Stopping us Now and Ladies’ Night.

The band are touring up and down the country selling out venues and regularly perform at 70s and 80s festivals alongside artists such as Rick Astley, Boy George, Belinda Carlisle, Kool and the Gang and Chic.

The Real Thing’s singer Chris Amoo said: “There’s always going to be a sense of nostalgia about our music.

“It’s the sound track to so many people’s lives and that will never die.”

Sadly, former bandmate, friend and brother Eddie Amoo died in February which left Chris and Dave devastated.

But the pair were overwhelmed by the love and support of fans and colleagues and decided to continue The Real Thing’s 2018 tour.

Chris said: “The fans’ outpouring of support makes us realise how much love there is out there for The Real Thing.

“And we’re doing this for them, and for Eddy, who was the greatest showman.

“It would have been Eddy’s wish for us to carry on and still feel the force.”

They are performing at The Princes Theatre on Sunday, October 28.

Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets cost £23.50 plus a £3 booking fee.
