COLCHESTER’S MP resigned his position on a parliamentary committee yesterday in protest over a report into bullying in the House of Commons.

Will Quince joined two other Tory MPs, Anne Milton and Mims Davies, in resigning their seats on the Speaker’s Committee.

The committee was set up to make parliament more inclusive.

The trio decided to quit their positions following on from Dame Laura Cox’s report which was published last week.

It said bullying and harassment were not being dealt with in the Commons due to a culture of “acquiescence and silence”.

MPs have since called for Speaker John Bercow’s resignation, who himself has been accused of bullying - which he denies - and Dame Cox’s recommendations to be instantly brought in.

Mr Bercow, also Chancellor of Essex University, has apparently maintained he will be staying until next summer to oversee Brexit.

The House of Commons Commission is set to look at the recommendations this week.
