MUSIC fans filled an art gallery as Colchester’s Record Fair returned for another year.

Plenty of bargains were on offer during the annual fair at Firstsite, in Lewis Gardens, and there was also an opportunity to look for something a little more rare.

Dave Chalkley, who helped organise the event, said it was a huge success.

He said: “There must have been more than 100 people there and what’s nice is every time we see people we have never seen before.

“We have got our regulars who come every year but it’s good to see new people.

“We try to get a variety of dealers; this time we had about 14 there.

“There was a guy just selling CDs as well, and I sold t-shirts. Everybody has a bit of everything.”

The fair will be at Firstsite again for Christmas, on December 15 and 16.

The dealers alternate between Colchester and Witham throughout the year.

Mr Chalkley said many people have worked hard to get the fair to the standard it is today.

He added: “There has always been a records fair in Colchester, it used to be in Stanway Village Hall.

“It was dormant for about a year and some of us decided to find somewhere else as you can’t not have a record fair in Colchester.

“How we have got it laid out not is how I have always envisaged it.”
