Care staff, friends and family have raised nearly £1,000 after taking part in a memory walk.

The team of 30 from St Mary’s Court and The New Deanery care homes, in Bocking, completed a six-mile route through farmland and woodland around the village.

Elderly residents from the homes helped to raise the funds for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in a shorter walk around their grounds.

Julia Clinton, CEO of Sonnet, which runs both homes, joined the team of walkers.

She said: “It was a really fun and enjoyable event, particularly as the weather was unseasonably warm.

“We are thrilled to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause, which is so close to our hearts, and would like to thank all the fabulous volunteers who joined us on the day.”

The New Deanery provides residential care with St Mary’s Court providing specialist nursing and palliative care, including dementia care.
