A CAR flipped onto its side after a crash on the A120.

Three cars crashed on the Colchester-bound carriageway shortly after 8.30am on Wednesday close to the junction of Little Bentley.

The road was westbound from Horsley Cross while emergency services attend the scene.

It was closed for two hours to give the emergency services chance to work at the crash.

But the road fully reopened at 10.40am.

The junction is busier than usual because the larger junction for Great Bromley has been shut while a new multi-million pound roundabout is being built.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A120 near Little Bentley at 8.40am today.

“On arrival, crews advised that three vehicles had been involved in the incident, which had left one car overturned with a person trapped inside.

“Crews worked hard to release the person by 9.32am, before leaving them in the care of the Ambulance Service.”

Specialist officers from Operation Raport - Essex Police's gang and drug squad - were heading to Clacton when they arrived at the scene of the crash.

The officers helped occupants while they waited for other emergency service vehicles to arrive.
