FUNDRAISERS ran through coloured foam and bubbles... all in the name of charity.

The Farleigh Hospice Maldon Bubble Rush returned to Promenade Park, in Park Drive, on Saturday.

Runners of all ages set off on the family-friendly run 5km.

This year there were five stations which sprayed fundraisers as they took on the course.

More than 750 people took part raising £44,296.27.

Dominique Brunning, fundraising manager for Farleigh Hospice, said: “It was fantastic to see so many families taking part, having fun and supporting their local hospice.

"When someone faces a life-limiting illness, Farleigh is there to support the whole family; we offer support for carers, bereavement groups for adults, and our specialist Yo-Yo project is designed for young people who have lost a loved one.

"Without the support of the local community we would not be able to provide these vital services”.

The event had been due to take place back in April but had to be postponed due to “extreme adverse weather” making the route unsafe.

The hospice supports people within mid Essex who are affected by life-limiting illnesses.

It requires fundraising, donations and gifts left in wills to provide its services, with 40 per cent of their yearly running costs being funded by the NHS.
