RESIDENTS living in sheltered accommodation enjoyed tea, coffee and sweet treats to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Groom House in Clacton, got behind the charity by hosting a fundraising coffee morning.

Organiser Kim Treadwell said the event raised a total of £655.

Residents baked and sold cakes and put on a raffle.

“I have two friends who are going through their own cancer battle at the moment,” said Kim.

“One is only in their 30s and the other is in their 40s - and my mum passed away from cancer.

“It is a great cause as it is something that effects everyone you meet.

“Be it family members or friends, everyone has someone in their life who is struggling with cancer.”

She added: “Everyone was in good spirits and we are proud of what we have achieved. I wasn’t expecting that much, it is wonderful.”

Live music was enjoyed from Steve and Sandra, of Rhythm of the Night, who donated their time free of charge.
