This week we have brought you the news that the plans for the old Odeon, in Crouch Street, have become not financially viable.

That revelation came after Colchester Council issued owners Blumarble Properties with a section 215 notice.

That order gives the owners of the former cinema 28 days to board up the windows, paint the facade of the building and cut back all overgrown vegetation.

And it again throws the future of the building into question.

Where once schemes were rubbished because of clear problems over finanical viability, a residential scheme was always considered the most likely to succeed.

One wonders what can be done to help the developers, or indeed should anything be done to help the developers?

If the plans for the flats does fall apart, what is realistically on the table?
