POLICE are investigating after reports of a gun being fired in a residential street.

Officers were called to Titania Close, Colchester, at 7.20pm after the reports were lodged.

Residents reported seeing armed officers arrive force to the street.

An extensive search was carried out but police say nobody with a gun was found and they have no evidence to suggest one was fired.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "No witnesses or injured parties have come forward, and there is no damage to property in the area.

"Enquiries continue."

A residents who lives nearby said they had heard an argument in the street leading up to the police arriving which seemed to be over a moped.

She said there had been reports a gun had been fired close to her house but had not heard it herself.

Police dog teams were on the scene on Tuesday morning.
