CHILDREN brought their animal companions along for a fun morning of music.
Roman River Music, based in Colchester, hosted a music session based on the much-loved children’s book, Giraffes Can’t Dance.
It was held at Marks Tey Village Hall and organisers said it was a huge success.
Storyteller Vanessa King and five musicians brought the story to life through music and children were invited to take their own favourite toy animal.
Two hour-long concerts were held for pre-school children and their families.
Julie Standen, from Roman River Music, said: “We had about 100 people come to the first concert.
“It was lovely, it was really well-received and all the children were very engaged.
“They were joining in with the musicians and the storyteller.”
There was also a slideshow of visuals from the book, which was written by Giles Andreae.
Julie said: “Lots of the children brought along their own giraffes, foxes, crocodiles and other animals.”
The concerts were part of the Roman River Music Festival, which is made up of a series of musical events held all over the town.
The festival will run until Sunday.
