The charity in charge of a vital life saving service has been shortlisted for several national awards.

Essex and Herts Air Ambulance has been entered into two categories at this year’s Association of Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence.

The charity’s Keep in Touch scheme, which was brought in ahead of the introduction of enhanced data protection laws, has been entered into the Campaign of the Year section.

It will also feature twice on the shortlist for Innovation of the Year.

Pilot Dave Kelly, who joined the air ambulance in 2016, has meanwhile been put forward for Pilot of the Year.

He said: “I’m not sure how I feel about this. A little bit overwhelmed if I’m honest.

"I’m really touched that I’ve been put forward for this award and been shortlisted.”

The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony to be held on Wednesday, November 12 at the Millennium Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London.
