One gram of cannabis cost a Pembroke Dock man nearly £200.

Wayne Stephen Davies, of Water Street, pleaded guilty to Class B drug possession when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, September 18.

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, told the court that police officers heard Davies shout from an upstairs window while they were on patrol in Meyrick Street, Pembroke Dock, on August 29.

Davies, 30, then came out of the property and raised the officers’ suspicions when he walked quickly away from them.

They followed him and when asked if he was in possession of anything he shouldn’t be, he replied: “Only a bit of weed.”

Davies, who has previous convictions for drug offences, handed the herbal cannabis to the police.

Mark Layton, defending, said: “It was a small amount, consistent with personal use. He made full and frank admissions.”

Magistrates fined Davies £80 and ordered him to pay £115 in costs and a surcharge.

A destruction order was made for the seized drugs.
