How would you cut congestion in Colchester?

Last week, we revealed the ambitious proposal to create the Colchester Viaduct.

The uncosted proposal was the subject of intense debate, not least because of the Simpsons nostalgia is created.

But political leaders across the board have welcomed the debate, with both Labour's Tim Young and the Lib Dems' Martin Goss calling it an "interesting proposition".

Tory boss Darius Laws also pressed how the town must plan for its transport future without focusing on keeping the car as king.

The ambitious viaduct plans were put forward by an architectural designer Igor Barteczko and show a tram-style monorail running between North Station, following Westway and Southway before running to the east of the town, through the Hythe, past Essex University and on to an area earmarked for a controversial garden village on the border of Tendring and Colchester.

The raised line would have three tiers; one for the trams, one for pedestrians and one for cyclists.
