A GROUP of friends have bared all in a tasteful topless calendar to raise awareness of breast cancer.

Tracy Brown, from Brightlingsea, produced the calendar to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now.

Tracy’s Booby Buddies are going to launch the calendar at Brightlingsea Community Centre on September 28 and hope hoping to raise £2,000.

Each calendar month is based on checking your breasts and the importance of breast awareness.

Six of the models, including one man, have had breast cancer.

Tracy, 58, said: “I used to work at Essex County Hospital as a ward sister, and then as a Macmillan nurse out in the community.

“I left my job in 2016 and found out I had breast cancer ten days later.

“I finished my treatment last August and thankfully got the all clear.”

She has taken part in a number of charity events for Breast Cancer Now, including shaving her head while she was going through chemotherapy and running the London Marathon.

She said: “I just thought ‘What else could I do to raise money?’

“I have got a few close friends, one of them being a photographer, who put the call out and we got a huge response from people wanting to join us.”

Barry Reynolds, who is also in the calendar, was one of the 350 men diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Thankfully, due to this research, he is a now a breast cancer survivor.

His partner Stella Gallagher, from Brightlingsea, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the calendar and I hope it raises lots of money for this worthy cause.

“Thanks to incredible research developments, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before, but around 1,000 women still die from the disease every month in the UK.

“I really hope with this event we can help Breast Cancer Now get closer to their aim that by 2050, everyone who is diagnosed with breast cancer will live.

“I want as many people as possible to buy a calendar to and fundraise for Breast Cancer Now’s vital research, to help stop women dying of breast cancer in the future.”

The launch will take place at 7pm and a fundraising page has been set up. Visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TracyBrown23.
