COLCHESTER and East Essex Cricket Club’s under-19 T20 team were runners-up in the County final at Chelmsford.

They lost by 18 runs against Hutton.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Hutton made 174 for six, despite the best efforts of bowlers Jordan Milburn (three for 38) and Simon Fernandes (two for 34).

Colchester then finished their 20 overs on 156 for nine, with their top-scorers being Josh Rymell (40) and Fernandes (29).

Colchester chairman Andrew Kennedy said: "They did very well to get to the final.

"I think the players were a bit disappointed not to win because they felt on paper they have a stronger side than Hutton.

"But they have a really good side and are already hoping they will go one step further in next season's competition.

"If they can stick together, they can challenge again next year."
