HAS the council lost the plot with its parking charges?
Over many years, parking for three hours gave us time to complete most of our shopping and time for lunch.
After shopping last Saturday and refusing to pay the £4.70 for up to four hours in Warrior Square car park, which used to cost £2.70 for three hours, that has now been done away with.
I stayed for just two hours for £1.90 from 9.30am, with the car park nearly empty, and returned at 11.30am, with the car park still nearly empty. The council said in January
this year it is increasingly looking at sourcing its own revenue because of cuts in government revenue.
So goodbye Southend High Street and another few customers.
