Fire crews were called to a health club after two cleaning products were mixed, creating a toxic gas.

Firefighters from Wivenhoe, Clacton, Halstead and Rayleigh Weir were called to the Bannatyne Health Club, in Grange Way, in Colchester, shortly before 11.40am this morning.

A member of staff has accidentally mixed the two products and had caused a toxic smell and gas.

One person was treated by medics at the scene.

Crews contained the incident and left the club by 12.10pm.
