There have been a number of high profile stories this week in south Essex.

Here is a round up of some of the biggest ones, in case you have missed them.

The week started with a police appeal for information after two men in their forties were attacked outside Park Inn, in Southend. Six teenagers have been arrested.

In happier news, Christmas arrived at Summerhill Garden Centre with the unveiling of its festive displays.

Tuesday saw people warned to be careful when walking in Southend by a police inspector and a huge lorry crash caused hours of delays, with Ikea stepping in to offer people a bed in store for the night.

On Wednesday, there were concerns after a moped gang attempted to ambush a driver and Southend Council also announced toilets in the town are to be closed due to on going anti social behaviour.

On Thursday, there was drama in Basildon town centre after a man was arrested following a disturbance.

The Towngate Theatre and Basildon Centre were both evacuated.

There was also horror as a Dachshund was attacked while out on a walk in Leigh.

On Friday, there was great relief as puppy Tilly, who had been stolen during a burglary in Pitsea, was found and reunited with her owners.

There was less positive news with a stabbing in Barringtons, Southend.
