EXTRA officers and sniffer dogs will be searching streets as police continue their murder investigation, a senior detective has said.

Police launched the probe after 52-year-old Gordon McGhee was found dead at a flat in Forest Road, Colchester, in Greenstead last Wednesday.

He suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and chest.

Danny Bostock, 32, of Berberis Walk has been charged with murder and attempted arson with intent to endanger life with a trial date scheduled for next February.

Essex Police are continuing to investigate the death and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and told residents teams of officers will be on the site on Friday.

Det Insp Stuart Truss, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "We’d like to thank the residents of Greenstead for being so accommodating to our officers over the past week as we continue to move forward with our enquiries into Mr McGhee’s death.

“I continue to appeal for information from anyone who may have been in the area between 2am and 6am on Wednesday, August 22.

"If you were in the areas of Forest Road, Hawthorne Avenue or Avon Way and saw or heard anything suspicious, or have any dash cam footage that we can look at, please contact us.
