Around 2,000 people flocked to a parish church to enjoy floral displays as part of a popular flower festival.

From Saturday through to Tuesday, St Peter ad Vincula, in Church Green, Coggeshall, opened its doors for the 31st annual Coggeshall Flower Show.

This year, the displays across the church were based on stories of the lives of saints like St John the Baptist, St George and St Osyth.

Organiser Judy Crawford said: "It has been really successful again and we had around 2,000 people attend.

"People were having a really nice time and loving all of the flowers.

"There were some amazing displays this year.

"It is the biggest in the area excluding the Chelmsford Cathedral event."

Around 35 different displays were created for this year's festivals.

Mrs Crawford said: "It is a very sociable event and it is really big in the community for all ages, from young to old.

"It is all in aid of the churches work in the community, for instance we have a youth worker who works with the schools.

"On the Tuesday when it is a bit quieter because people are back at work we invite residents of the care homes in and after they've had a look around they have a big tea party.

"I start planning again in January and then start getting the teams of people who help me together ready for next year."
