A family fun day is being held to raise money to fund days out for young cancer patients in honour of a brave little five-year-old boy who died of a rare form of the disease.

The latest Jacob Jones Family Fun Day takes place on Sunday at Braintree Sport and Health Club, in Panfield Lane, Braintree.

Organised in conjunction with Braintree Town Football Club's Community Iron charity, the day has a range of activities for everyone to enjoy including inflatables, sports, stalls and refreshments.

One of the main aims behind the events is to get youngsters and their families enjoying sport and being active in the community.

John Ray Infant School pupil Jacob Jones, five, passed away peacefully at Little Haven’s Children’s Hospice in December after fighting neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of the disease, since he was two-years-old.

Entrance between 11am and 3pm is free, but the funds raised from event will help pay for the planned Jacob Jones Smiling With Others Day, where several young cancer patients and their families will enjoy days out, later this year.
