A MUM-OF-THREE has scooped £30,000 after taking part in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Catherine Brunner, from Stanway, landed the phenomenal prize when her postcode, CO3 8BJ, was announced as the winner of the Street Prize on Saturday.

She said: “It’s hard to comprehend what’s just happened but it’s a very lovely surprise.

“I moved house a year ago and it was only recently that I remembered to change my address so I was playing with my new postcode – thank goodness I did.”

The win means the 49-year-old will be able to return to Hong Kong for a holiday, where she lived for three years with her husband Nick and is also where their first daughter was born.

Her daughters have also given her a few ideas on how to spend the windfall.

She added: “My eldest is 16 and eager to learn to drive so I think I’ll buy a small car for us to share, while my second daughter would like a new phone. My youngest is a massive Harry Potter fan and has been asking to see the Cursed Child at the West End but the tickets are so expensive, so it’ll be great to be able to treat her to that now.”

Presenting Catherine with her cheque was People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador and TV personality, Jeff Brazier.

He said: “Getting to hand big cheques to lovely winners like Catherine is the best thing about my job and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her. If you would like to see me standing outside your door with a golden envelope in hand, then make sure you’re playing with your postcode.”
