TRAFFIC calming measures are being put in place to deter people from using a popular cut-through.
Essex Highways is carrying out works on Mill Road in Colchester from September 17 and 21.
The major changes will be made at the junction with Severalls Lane and the road will be narrowed, increasing the width of the pavement in places.
The aim is to discourage vehicles using Mill Road as a through route.
An Essex Highways spokesperson said: “This scheme is funded under Section 106 planning law by the developer to deter vehicles from using Mill Road.
“Works are currently scheduled between September 17 and 21 and will include paving-slab pattern surface inlay on the road outside of the rugby club and at the roundabout junction with Severalls Lane.
“A new ‘gateway’ feature will also be installed in the verge at the Severalls Lane junction, to change the appearance of Mill Road away from a main or through-road.”
