A WALKER was left “disgusted” after coming across a fly-tipped trailer full of rubbish.

Dave Hamilton said he spotted the unsightly dumping in Cut-A-Thwart Lane, Maldon, just over a week ago.

Among the rubbish on the trailer was a smashed toilet, old armchairs and a collection of tyres.

Mr Hamilton said: “I was quite disgusted when I saw it, I walk the dog along there quite a lot and it’s a lovely part of the country.

“The trailer had seen better days, it had a flat tyre and obviously they’d removed the number plate.

“Hopefully there’s something in there they can use to trace whoever left it there because these people should be prosecuted.”

Pat Mackshea, senior community protection officer, said: “Maldon District Council’s Community Protection Team was informed of an incident of fly-tipping in the area of Cut-A-Thwart Lane, Maldon on July 5 from a concerned member of the public.

“Arrangements were made for this to be investigated and removed without delay.

“We take the issue of fly-tipping very seriously and work with Essex Police to continue to tackle such crimes and prosecute those responsible.

“To do this we rely on the support of the public as well as modern techniques, such as deploying covert CCTV cameras to identify individuals that choose to illegally dump waste.”
