A MAN has been arrested after a police chase.
Police were alerted after a Volkswagen Passat - which was allegedly driving on false plates - was seen speeding in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, just after midnight on Friday morning.
The car was monitored, and when it continued to break the speed limit, a pursuit was authorised.
The man in his 20s was arrested in Eastwood Drive, Colchester, shortly before 1am.
He is now in custody after being arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon, failing to stop for a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
Officers want to speak to anyone who saw the Passat in the area between 12am and 12.50am to come forward and speak to Stanway Roads Policing Unit by calling 101 and quoting incident number 4 of Friday, July 13.
