The first cinema screening for special needs kids in Clacton was a "huge success".
Karen Fowell organised the event at Flicks when she had trouble finding suitable summer entertainment for her autistic son Aaron, six.
Together with around 60 other children with complex needs, Aaron enjoyed a screening of animated movie Surf's Up on Monday.
Karen, who lives in Key Road, said: "It was a huge success."
The 34-year-old explained that the challenging behaviour of children with special needs can mean their parents find it uncomfortable taking them to mainstream events.
"I'm thinking of putting together a club," she said.
"We could have screenings three or four times a year."
