A seaside council's bid to clear its resorts of yobs has taken a step forward.
Councillors at Frinton and Walton are considering providing a building for recreational activities to keep them off the streets.
And while they have not committed themselves to the project, it has been decided to look into both sources of major funding and necessary planning requirements.
Possible sites have also been discussed.
The youth projects' committee was set up following an outburst of violence in Frinton's Connaught Avenue in May.
The bulk of the councillors supported providing some base for the young to play and meet as one way of combating the antisocial behaviour.
Further meetings are planned.
- Frinton and Walton town councillors look set to start using a device that gives off a high-pitched soundwave aimed at keeping young people away from trouble spots - once it is put together.
The "Mosquito" deterrent device, which cost £800, was ordered in July, but is still waiting at the town council's offices to be assembled before being used.
The idea is the annoying buzz can only be heard by youngsters, who will disperse.
