A MAN who was behind the wheel of a Porsche which crashed through a car park wall and onto a subway below looks set to face court action, the Gazette can reveal.
A 73-year-old, from Colchester, has been reported for careless driving after the incident, on Thursday, April 5.
The car had been in a car park, off Crouch Street, when it crashed through a wall and onto the Southway pedestrian subway.
No one was injured in the incident.
At the time, Essex Police moved quickly to say the driver had been reported for careless driving but rescinded that announcement soon after and appealed for more information on the incident.
Yesterday, the force confirmed the driver had indeed been reported.
Being 'reported' for an offence by police means a final decision on a charge lies with the Crown Prosecution Service.
If a decision to charge is taken, the defendant is summonsed to court by letter.
