A Network Rail employee is making his way to Scotland, not by train but by bike.
William White is cycling from Lands End to John O' Groats to raise money for a children's charity.
Colchester worker Mr White, 44, is embarking on the trip which is almost 1,000 miles and is sure he will complete the journey in ten days, by cycling 105 miles each day.
He has chosen to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation as his wife is a teaching assistant.
He is set to stay in bed and breakfasts and youth hostels and will be leaving Land's End on September 4.
Mr White is confident of completing the gruelling ride in under two weeks and has already booked transport home for September 14.
