FOODBANK volunteers are preparing some sweet treats to sell at a music festival.

Brightlingsea Foodbank is having a fundraising tea tent at the legendary Brightlingsea Free Music Festival in Hurst Green.

This year’s festival runs from August 3 to August 5, and the tea tent will open on the last two days.

The special charity tea tent, launched for the first time at last year’s festival, was a success raising £1,060.

This total was divided equally between Brightlingsea Foodbank and Brightlingsea Free Music Festival itself.

Brightlingsea Foodbank is based at the Parish Hall in Station Road.

Win Pomroy, who coordinates Brightlingsea Foodbank volunteers, said: “We were thrilled by the response to our tea tent at last year’s festival and are delighted to be asked to run it again.

"The money we raised has already been a great help to support the foodbank, in addition to the continually generous donations of food, people kindly give at the collection points around town.

“We hope Brightlingsea Free Music Festival visitors will thoroughly enjoy the fresh, mainly homemade refreshments at our tea tent. To match the success of last year, we are again extremely grateful for all the help we have been offered - ranging from fridges and tea urns to the scores of wonderful home-made cakes themselves.

"We are also indebted to the local Tesco and Co-op supermarkets for their unfailing support year on year.”
