The Killers
V Stage, Sunday, 9.20pm

THE Killers brought the final night of this year's V Festival to a close with a rapturous performance.

Thousands of festival-goers turned out to see the headline act take to the V Stage at Chelmsford's Hylands Park on Sunday.

Rains that threatened to ruin the weekend's festivities finally fell during the performance, but they failed to dampen the spirits of the exuberant masses.

The Las Vagas-based outfit were eagerly awaited by the large crowd, who sang-along to most of the tracks belted out during a charismatic performance by lead singer Brandon Flowers.

Despite only releasing two albums, Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, the 90-minute set flew by as the band played a series of hits including Sam's Town, When You Were Young, Bones, Smile Like You Mean It, Uncle Jonny, Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine and For Reasons Unknown.

The performance also included a rendition of Joy Division's Shadow Play.

The much-anticipated headline act failed to disappoint and even eclipsed a stunning performance earlier on the same stage by Kasabian.

The highlights of the enthralling set were the crowd-pleasing hits Mr Brightside, All These Things That I've Done and Somebody Told Me.
