A NEW nursery has opened on the site of one forced to close because of crippling costs.
Springlands Nursery, in Shrub End Road, Colchester, closed just over a year ago after principal Catherine House said it was struggling to keep financially afloat.
It had been open for 32 years.
Now the site has been re-opened by Second Steps Day Nursery.
New manager Ebony Bowen said the nursery had undergone a makeover making the layout more open plan and also has more homely decor.
It has 12 nursery children on its books since opening a month ago and has space for up to 43 youngsters, between the ages of six-weeks-old and five-years-old.
It also runs an after-school club, breakfast club and holiday club.
