Snow Patrol
V Stage, Saturday 7.40pm
SNOW Patrol were joined by vocalist Martha Wainwright during a brilliant performance at this year's V Festival.
The singer, who had played earlier in the day in the JJB Arena, joined the band to sing Set Fire to the Third Bar, live in the UK for the first time.
The vocally beautiful hit was the highlight of a pitch-perfect performance from the band, which has been together for more than a decade.
The Northern Irish rock outfit, which was playing the V Stage at Chelmsford's Hylands Park on Saturday, also belted out the crowd-pleasing Chasing Cars.
The band's power songs and poignant lyrics were somewhat lost during the mellow performance that was sandwiched between a lively performance from Pink and the eagerly-awaited festival headliners.
The overall atmosphere felt as if the audience were simply going through the motions in anticipation of the Foo Fighters, to who Snow Patrol dedicated Chasing Cars as their favorite band.
Other hits played during the performance included You're All I have, Shut Your Eyes, Open Your Eyes and Run.
