A MULTI-media platform to motivate and educate job-seekers has received a £10,000 lottery grant to get the project off the ground.

Work TV’s magazine-style programming will feature films, podcasts and articles for job-seekers focussed on career opportunities, apprenticeships, government schemes, franchising opportunities and people who are self-employed.

It will share tips and offer education advice for people interested in apprenticeships and higher education as well as featuring recruitment professionals and their services.

The Colchester-based Association of Pension and Benefits Claimants devised the idea, which will also act as a resource for businesspeople, teachers and HR professionals, and has building a mobile phone application in its sights.

Simon Collyer, founder and chief executive officer of ABC, said: “We need much more funding but this is a great start.

“We have published about 2,500 articles and we’re an internationally known and trusted source of information for those surviving on low incomes.

“Our goal is to base Work TV at Essex University’s Knowledge Gateway and have the organisation operating as a training ground for students planning to transition into a career involving film, media and marketing.” ABC is committed to helping youngsters and has worked with Knowledge Pathways International, based at the university, to offer free employability courses to Millennials.

KPI was founded by Syrian entrepreneur and academic Abdulrahman Razouk, a coach with 12 years experience in education and management.

Mr Collyer said: “Our goal is to offer small groups of Millennials from less-advantaged backgrounds high-level coaching to see if we can guide and inspire these young people and equip them with the tools and resilience to compete in today’s highly competitive job market.”

The courses will be for small groups of up to 15 people between 18 and 25.
