A MOTHER and daughter have braved the scissors and had their hair chopped off for the Little Princess Trust and Alopecia UK.

Nadine Blackwell, 33, and her six-year-old daughter Evie had about 12-inches of hair chopped off yesterday afternoon at the Me & You Salon in Benfleet.

The pair took to the hairdressers chair in honour of daughter and older sister Erin, eight, who suffers from alopecia.

Mum Nadine said: “It was my idea as I originally said I was going to get my hair cut off for charity.

“Alopecia UK has a really good set of support groups for sufferers and we want to help support those.

“I’ve had about 12 inches chopped off as I haven’t had it cut in about three years.

“Evie was very nervous as she hasn’t had her hair short before but she thinks it’s lovely she’s able to do something for her sister and other people who suffer from alopecia.”

The pair only set out to raise £250 but they have smashed their target and reached £380.

As well as raising cash the pair will be donating their locks to The Little Princess Trust.

“Our hair will be donated to help them to continue to provide real hair for children that need it,” Nadine added.
