A FAMILY who live for games nights are just about to launch their dream venture - a board game cafe.

Annabel Hutton and her family have been obsessed with board games since they started buying them at Christmas, and now have an impressive collection of 450 games.

Wanting to put them all to good use, they are opening Dice and a Slice, a game cafe in Queen Street, Colchester.

The cafe will officially open on Friday, opposite Peacocks and The Gym.

Annabel, 23, said: “We wanted to set up something different.

“It was the Christmas before last when my dad got us a couple of board games. We then realised how many different ones there there and it stemmed from there.

“We have about 450 games.”

The venue will run as a normal cafe, but if people want to play games they can pay £2 for an hour or £5 a day, and can play as many different games as they want.

Annabel’s dad Daren, and mum Jessica Caws, will be running the cafe, with Annabel working full time.

Her sister Jennifer, 19, and brother Christopher, 15, are excited for the unique eatery to open.

They will sell cakes, pies, sandwiches and salads.

Annabel, who did an apprenticeship in marketing, said: “It’s quite an open and modern space, there are lots of splashes of colour.

“There is also an outdoor courtyard and we are planning on getting some quirky decorations, like framed board games.”

Opening hours are usually from 8.30am until 4pm.

However it closes at 9pm on a Tuesday and 11pm on a Friday.

Opening hours are 10am until 11pm on a Saturday and 10am until 6pm on Sundays.
