Children and adults seeking some Easter holiday fun learnt all about their historic finds during a fantastic fossil day.
The fossil fanatics headed to Colchester Natural History Museum on High Street for the event which had experts from geology group GeoSuffolk on hand to talk to the museum visitors.
Children were encouraged to take along their own fossils to learn more about them from the experts and also had the chance to learn more on those which are on show at the museum.
There was a good turnout at the event which gave visitors the opportunity to listen to talks while getting their hands on all sorts of historic fossils.
A Colchester Council spokesman said: “More than 300 visitors
attended the free Go Live Fantastic Fossils event supported by GeoSuffolk.
“This ever-popular event at the Natural History Museum provided a unique opportunity for visitors to meet the experts, learn more about the fossilised creatures that once lived in our area and handle some amazing specimens from the museum collections.
“It also gave people the chance to bring along their own fossils and get them identified.
“Look out for future activities and events taking place at the museum. Details can be found on cimuseums.org.uk/whatson.”
