A MAN has been 'reported' for careless driving after the black Porsche he was driving careered through a car park wall and landed in a pedestrian subway.

The 73-year-old was behind the wheel of the Porsche Targa 4s yesterday evening when the car smashed through a red brick wall separating a car park, in Crouch Street, with Lexden Road.

Police say he will also be offered a fitness to drive course and the DVLA has been notifed.

An on-looker said: "It looks as though the car's been parked and whoever's got in has just gone straight through the wall.

"I've never seen anything like it."

A spokeswoman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines were sent to the scene at about 6.20pm.

No one was injured or trapped and fire officers simply made the scene safe before leaving shortly after 6.30pm.

An Essex Police spokesman has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to call 101 and ask for PC Elizabeth Ferris at Stanway Roads Policing Unit.
